Rabbits, contrary to popular belief, are intelligent, sensitive animals with a longer lifespan than most expect (8-12 years) with regular preventative medical care, adequate space and an appropriate diet.

In Taiwan alone, the Taian Rabbit Saving Association reported in 2023 that they rescue an average of 180-220 rabbits annually.

While non-profit rabbit organizations in Taiwan continue to offer education to the public about misconceptions and misinformation about rabbits and lobby for animal protection for dogs, cats and rabbits, misinformation and lack of education continues to lead to poor diet, lack of adequate healthcare, preventable illness, premature death and dumping of rabbits, cats, dogs and other domesticated animals threatening local wildlife and/or putting dumped animals at risk of injury and/or death.
